Career shift to cosmetology unsure about the science side

I'm seriously thinking about enrolling in cosmetology school after spending the last few years in corporate marketing. I really hit a wall with burnout and realized that my true passion lies in hands-on, creative work, especially when it comes to hair and makeup.

I've been freelancing for small events on the side and absolutely love it, so I feel ready to take the plunge. That being said, I've been checking out some school curriculums, and I have to admit, I'm a bit intimidated by the classroom stuff, especially the anatomy and science courses. I know they're important, but science has never been my strong suit.

I'll also be pursuing the part-time track since I still need to keep a part-time job, so I'm trying to get a handle on what the workload actually looks like.

If anyone's been in a similar position or has any insights on what to expect from the classroom experience, I'd really appreciate your thoughts!

Wow, that sounds a fantastic pivot you're about to make!! I totally get the desire for a career switch and it's completely normal to feel a little intimidated by the science involved!

Cosmetology programs break down anatomy and chemistry in super practical ways, focusing on exactly what you need to know for hair and makeup. In my experience, it's not like a dry college lecture so you'll actually see how it applies to what you're doing every single day!!

It also seems you already got that freelance hustle going so keep at it! Just be consistent and manage your time!

Excited for your new adventure!! ✨
