Do professionals wear finger covers or just cry quietly

I made it through cosmetology school without a single nick, and now I'm convinced I used up all my luck. My girlfriend gave me rubber thimbles as a joke but I'm actually considering it. Do people use anything legit to protect their fingers or am I being dramatic?

Not dramatic at all! Finger cuts are real in the salon world! Some stylists use finger guards or cut-resistant tape, especially during long shear-heavy days. Rubber thimbles might look funny, but hey, if they work, they work!

@itscerulean88 makes me feel better and honestly, rubber thimbles are starting to seem more like a must have than a joke. I've seen people mention cut resistant tape a few times, so I might give that a try next time I have a long day with the shears. @Honey bee is a little off topic but if you're new to cutting two inches, I'd suggest making a clean section and using a guide from the middle out. Eyeballing it can leave you with uneven ends. I'm still trying to figure out how to protect my fingers without losing grip or precision, so if anyone has used tape that doesn't mess with control, I'd love to hear about it. I'm planning to try a few things this week and will share if I find something that works.
